random thoughts, all sports related:
thought 1: why is bowling on espn classic? its on literally every day, at least over the summer...doesnt the word classic imply that at one point it was heavily watched or interesting to the masses? or slightly relevant in the sporting world? doesnt it? so why is espn showing classic bowling everyday over the summer? who watched it then (1980's it seems like all these matches took place, at least judging from the mustaches) and who's watching it now? someone fill me in
thought 2: robert flores, the new sportscenter anchor is terrible. unfunny, awkward, poor commentator. i have the feeling sportscenter feels sorry for him and are liek, "yeah you did okay buddy, next time it'll be better" and i imagine all the other anchors are like "...shit" when they come into work and see who theyre teamed up with for the day.
thought 3: wipeout blows. a poor mans mxc...what a poor choice for another sportcenter anchor, john anderson.
thought 4: go germany! plays today at 230
thought 5: kobe, hows my ass taste
thought 6: kendrick perkins calling into QVC high off his ass = hilarious
thought 7: umm...anyone actually believing don imus?
that is all, comments welcome

sandstorms
sandstorms will harvest shields of glory
to those wild enough to explore
realms unfamiliar
realms far away yet close to heart
realms now a distance memory
the dessert days will pass
fruit will once again grow
yet our mind will once again wander
to places we've been before
to places we know only time has seen
passing by in his dodge intrepid
tilting his sideview down for a better view
of the free-spirits dancing madly in the street
celebrating the past
the dessert
the storm
of youth
innocence
as slowly he drives towards city lights
to those wild enough to explore
realms unfamiliar
realms far away yet close to heart
realms now a distance memory
the dessert days will pass
fruit will once again grow
yet our mind will once again wander
to places we've been before
to places we know only time has seen
passing by in his dodge intrepid
tilting his sideview down for a better view
of the free-spirits dancing madly in the street
celebrating the past
the dessert
the storm
of youth
innocence
as slowly he drives towards city lights

top summer albums '08
These are the albums keeping me company this summer. Most are newly released but not all. Let me kow your thoughts, if any.
1. Death Cab For Cutie - Narrow Stairs...good album, hard to compare anything to their previous 2(transatlanticism and plans) but def a solid album.
2. The Format - Interventions & Lullabies...Downloaded it awhile ago, gave it a quick listen then...but now im in love with it
3. Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight...Amazing album, from the same producer as the national. Every song is solid. give it a listen. right now, the album i'm listening to the most.
4. Nada Surf - Lucky...YES, there back...and with much better shit than when i was in middle school....(popular)
5. The Raconteurs - Boy Broken Soldiers...Pretty solid album. I dont really have much else to say bout it
6. Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts Of the Great Highway...All about old-school boxers. First two songs are already among my top 100 for sure.
7. The Weepies - Hideaway...Not as good as "Say I am You" but still a decent followup.
8. City and Colour - Bring Me Your Love...Solid album, thanks to dan and ben for finding/introducing them to me
9. My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges.....Here's to hoping it'll be solid..released today, will buy it later
10. Coldplay - Viva La Vida or Death and all his Friends...Another hopeful..released 6.17...kinda already sick of the apple commercial though, again my hopes are really high for this album because of the previous 2, well even 3...so here's to hoping.
