me, pops: conversation
"...and there were several in there
i had plenty, so i didn't need to go back to home depot
but ya know maybe if i put a 3-way in the kitchen it'll make..."
i think he's talking about wiring. when did i lose all focus? concentration? those wet leaves are dangerous.
"...we're going to have to use deadmen to hold up the..."
this truck rides real smooth. too bad its only rear-wheel drive. we're talking about something else now i think though. deadmen. that's a cool word for old pieces of wood.
"running from the kitchen to the diningroom. or what's the diningroom now. that way we can be more flexible. more convenient."
saturday. it's saturday right, yeah, saturday. he's home. there was some college ball on earlier. wonder how ol' states doin.
"...your help later with the drywall. what time do you work again?"
"oh, 5. 4:45 really" he asked about work tonight i think. did i ask about the wiring at some point? why did i do that, that was stupid. my eyes itch. i wonder if its going to rain tonight.
"emailing cj and he said he didn't even get up until 2, missed most..."
i didn't realize i had to take such a massive shit. we have to hurry home...he's looking at me. i think he asked me a question. crap.
"yeah"

obama - save me from my own decisions
hey mr. president elect. im almost glad you won. now at least ill get 4 years off from the constant complaints. im so sick of liberals blaming bush for anything wrong in america. at least ill have 4 years off from that. also im curious to see if our problems miraculously vanish with obama. very curious indeed.
if you havent seen the new southpark with obama moving into the white house, watch it now. pure hilarity.

please someone STOP THE BLEEDING
on the wake of a new election and a new president and a possible new health care system, i feel i must weigh in, lightly and respectfully, to my liberal viewers, the whole 1 or 2 (of 3 or 4) of you. and if i happen to convince you cast a different vote tomorrow....cool, cuz itll make up for mine, since i forgot to get an absentee ballot....whoops....but it doesnt really matter anyway.
the theme of this post is universal healthcare. please, please, please hear me out. this a a horrible idea. its like a movie with a really good trailer that ends up blowing my balls(see "The Island") or a menacing black dude that loses every fight (see kimbo slice) or that supermodel with no soul(see....any supermodel). it looks good on the outside but doesnt follow through. universal health care. the words seem so good together. it flows off the tongue and just makes you feel happy inside. but pretty soon your swollen kidney is about to burst and you cant get a hospital bed because 75 other idiots with foot sores are taking them all. this is a reason for my hatred of universal health care.
here are others:
a. the government screw up EV-er-y-thing. everything. i dont want them in control of yet another thing, quite an important thing in my life. do you really like the way the DMV is run? or how about USPS? airport security?....how inefficient. how so inefficient. and we have to pay for these services....imagine if they were free...
so you like obama...cool...but he'll at max be around 8 years, what about after that...what happens when another dude takes the white house, and god forbid let him be a conservative. oh no! we still have our universal health care....but surely it will be regulated and changed and all together fucked with.
b. free market vs. socialism. lets face it, universal health care is a form of socialism. there is no competition. because there is no competition the quality and service level of the health care professional would diminish. no wait not diminish, evaporate....why be the best anymore? way make advances? why set yourself apart if the government is paying your wage anyway? in a free market system a specialist become renown for his good work, therefore he can charge more for his services and through this he will sharpen his knowledge and continue to grow as a healthcare professional. he makes more money yes, but he also provides a much needed service, which would most likely be COVERED anyway under your health care plan, if you have one. you dont spend (much) of the extra cash, your provider does. but you have the choice to see this man. much more on your terms than with universal health insurance that would mandate who your doctor is and when you can see him, for what reasons, etc. Under a universal plan, there would be no incentive for people to go through the rigorous schooling requirements to become a doctor if the government would be determining wages, limiting or regulating practices, or forcing healthcare providers to provide care without payment or at a payment set by the government.
look to england. they have universal health care...you ever met anyone with good teeth from england?
c. the rationing of health care. not much. with no limit to when we see a doctor and no fee to ever pay...why not see him for a hangnail, a headache, a bug bite....why not make the line longer for someone actually in need...
d. i see the argument for universal health care, i do. a single parent of 3 cant afford health insurance so she doesnt get it for herself or her kids. something happens to one of her kids, a tradgedy. it happens all the time, and it sucks. it really does and i feel sorry for those situations. but, ok, so you may hate me for what im about to say and you have every right to, but while i feel bad for these families in these situations, i cannot help to wonder how the situation arose. im a 20 somehting white male living in the suburbs yes, and i dont know what its like being on the streets, having to fight since childhood for a meal, for shelter for anything really. ive been very blessed. maybe i have no right to say this but i think if i was born there on the streets, i might still be where im at today or very close. because i worked. i worked hard in school. i studied. i laid off the crack rock. i didnt impregnate any hookers. i exercise regularly. my vanes run clean. i would have done the same thing if i was born in a less blessed house. and i think my situation now would be similar. i feel sorry for the mother of 3 on welfare but with all respect she had the opportunity to not be dependent on her husband or have some sort of education or back up plan if things go awry. i dont have a back up plan right now, but i dont have any kids, im not addicted to meth, i dont have a gambling problem, err, well the first 2 are accurate at least. point is...we all make choices. and there are obviously situations that are not in line with what i just said, but a good bit are...we cant be dependent on the government to right our wrongs all the time.
i will solemnly bow out now.
if there is one thing you remember about this post...please please please let it be competition. it is the force behind why capitalism works. why free markets work. why america works. let it continue with health care.
now...
let the crucifixion of todd's post begin...
